Elections on 2nd May

Derbyshire Dales residents will be heading to the polls on Thursday 2nd May to take part in Combined County Mayoral Authority and Police and Crime Commissioner elections.

Residents across Derby, Derbyshire, Nottingham and Nottinghamshire will get the chance to vote for the first-ever elected East Midlands Mayor in May, after councils gave the go-ahead to devolution for the region.

Residents will also be able to vote for who should be the next Derbyshire Police and Crime Commissioner; the commissioner is responsible for policing across the county, ensuring the delivery of an effective and efficient police service.

Details of your polling station are available online and will also be on your polling card. You do not need to take your polling card with you, but it will speed things up at the polling station if you do.

You will need to bring an accepted form of photo ID to vote.

Pencils will be provided, but you are welcome to bring your own pen or pencil to use.

These elections here in the Derbyshire Dales are being organised by your District Council. Polling stations will be open from 7am to 10pm on Thursday 2 May, with the counts taking place from 9am on Friday 3 May.

Travellers on Old Station Road Car Park Proposal from DDDC

Once again the Derbyshire Dales District Council, at their next meeting on Thursday 28th September 2023, are proposing that the travellers be moved back onto the Old Station Road Car Park. The Parish Council has serious concerns about this proposal and are objecting to it.

The email address for objections is committee@derbyshiredales.gov.uk and please ask that your email be shared with ALL councillors and also Paul Wilson Chief Executive, Derbyshire Dales District Council. Those wishing to register to speak at the meeting need to do so by Tuesday 26th September at 12pm.

The Parish Council will be discussing this at their meeting on Monday 25th September at 7.30pm in the WI room of Rowsley Village Hall. We will have a petition available for signing in the hall from 6pm on Monday.

There is a committee report regarding the siting below.
